Trauma

Trauma is a form of suffering that negatively shapes someone’s sense of identity and causes them to begin to constantly expect or brace for the worst. Trauma can result from any physical or sexual abuse, significant verbal or emotional abuse, exposure to an act of violence, a disaster, a major loss, or similar experience.

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

PTSD is a mental health condition that can develop after experiencing a traumatic event. Symptoms of PTSD can include flashbacks, nightmares, severe anxiety, and intrusive thoughts related to the traumatic event. These symptoms can significantly impact your ability to function in everyday life and may lead to feelings of isolation and fear.

Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (CPTSD)

CPTSD is a more complex and long-lasting form of trauma-related disorder that arises from prolonged exposure to traumatic events, often in contexts where you have little or no control. Common causes of CPTSD can include experiences of abuse, neglect, or repeated traumatic incidents over an extended period.

Individuals with CPTSD may experience symptoms similar to those of PTSD, such as flashbacks and nightmares, but they may also struggle with difficulties in emotional regulation, self-esteem, and interpersonal relationships. The effects of CPTSD can be pervasive and impact various aspects of a person’s life, making it challenging to navigate daily activities.

I provide a safe space for you to explore your emotions, thoughts, and behaviors related to trauma. Whether it be childhood abuse, a traumatic event, or ongoing stress, I walk By Your Side to navigate your trauma and help you move towards a place of healing.
